2. What is spiritual growth? (see 2 Pet 1:3-8)
3. Spiritual growth includes:
- increasing in knowledge and understanding of God (the power of growth comes from God; He allows us to participate in the divine nature)
- escaping the corruption in the world caused by evil desire
- increasing in practice of Christ-like virtues in life (faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love)
- increasing in knowledge and becoming more like Christ and living a productive life of influential
Real life story - Eric Liddell was an Olympiad champion in 100 meters event. In one of the heat events, he withdrew from the competition as the event fell on Sunday. The reason behind was to attend Sunday worship session. Many people was shocked with his act. He however, was given a new opportunity in 400 meters event on the following day. He indeed gave a big surprise by winning the non-favorite event. Practice of Christ-like virtues.....
"Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
