God wants you to grow

Excerpt from the message preached by Rev Ho on this day:
"Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." (Ephesians 4:14-16)
1. God wants us to grow towards spiritual maturity and become like Christ. (see Eph 4:15)
2. What is spiritual growth? (see 2 Pet 1:3-8)
3. Spiritual growth includes:
- increasing in knowledge and understanding of God (the power of growth comes from God; He allows us to participate in the divine nature)
- escaping the corruption in the world caused by evil desire
- increasing in practice of Christ-like virtues in life (faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love)
- increasing in knowledge and becoming more like Christ and living a productive life of influential

Real life story - Eric Liddell was an Olympiad champion in 100 meters event. In one of the heat events, he withdrew from the competition as the event fell on Sunday. The reason behind was to attend Sunday worship session. Many people was shocked with his act. He however, was given a new opportunity in 400 meters event on the following day. He indeed gave a big surprise by winning the non-favorite event. Practice of Christ-like virtues.....

Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

Just came back from Japan last week. Went to Tokyo for conference and added side trip to Tateyama Alpine Route and Kanazawa. I must say that Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route was great. You can do the trip either from Nagano side or Toyama side. For us, we did it from the Nagano side. Took the Shinkansen to Nagano early morning. Then boarded the express bus to Ogizawa. From there, we boarded the tunnel electric bus to get to Kurobe Dam. From the dam, it was all the way up to the peak (almost). Murodo is the highlight of the route. This is the place where you get to see snow covered peak and lake. In spring, there's snow wall nearby Murodo station. From Murodo, we descended to Bijodaira and Tateyama Station to catch the local train back to Toyama. The fare for the entire route is not cheap, but it's worth it. A hike from Bijodaira to Murodo should be interesting, which can be considered in future. View from the tunnel electric bus, onward to Kurobe Dam Arrived at Kurobe Dam View of t...

MyVi

Had got my new MyVi last Friday. Initial consumption was a litre for a 10-km drive. Well, it seems quite costly but this is still early to judge as the engine needs up to 5,000km drive to get optimize (that's what people tell me). Enjoy driving it.
