Car trail

Not long ago I tried out to snap car trail during night time (yea, have to familiarize with my new toy). Well, it sounds easy. Just expose for few seconds and tah tah.....you got the result. However, I shot crappy photos again. Maybe not enough cars on the highway because it was Saturday? Or maybe I chose the wrong location (it was at the back hill in UM, overlooking the Spring Highway)? Maybe the exposure time was too long (this was 10s; 5s was under exposed while 15s was extremely over exposed)? Next time maybe better luck. By the way, only cropping was done on the photo, no other adjustment.

God sent?

This is a better movie than The Da Vinci Code. It's simple to follow (not as info-condensed as previous installment). But if you compared it with the original novel , you will notice it missed out a lots of details. Bernini's sculpture was not explained in details in the movie, which was not necessary though. But again you will find it interesting if you read the book. You will appreciate the details. Probably someone will realize that even in the church, evil does exist. After all, humans are not perfect, sinners. And I do believe that every event happens with a cause, just like why Prof Langdon was summoned in the movie, or shall I say it is God's will. Never mind if the movie does not follow strictly to its novel. After all, it is a good novel adaptation.

A tragedy of missing a flight...

Went back to Sibu last weekend. Unfortunately, due to wrong timing estimation, I missed the flight. End up paid more than rm350 to re-issue a new ticket. What a costly lesson. All just for the sake of him... And I snapped the worst series of baby's photos by far - blur and unfocused. Simply because it was in low light condition, avoided using flash, and baby moved all the time (very active at some point).

Life now

Three perspective from three friends: Friend A: Just came back from oversea for holiday. Found out all his friends are either married, have kids, acquired properties, working hard, lamenting for not earning enough and so on. But he does not have all these. Comparison kills life. Friend B: Have been working in the same field for a decade. Now feel bored. No fresh idea. No excitement. Mundane although has changed to a new company. Thinking of changing to something completely different. Is it hard? Friend C: Work is busy. Demanding. Have to make time for personal, family and friends. Running a pentathlon race I would say.

Space, the final frontier

I don't remember when was the last time I watched Star Trek (be it the series or the movie). It seems a decade I guess. The new release, its content i s awesome. They have successfully rebooted it. Never mind if you are not a Trek fan. Entertaining yet tense. Love the new opening theme but the original theme is still a classic. The message: choose your right path. It's logical to be emotional though. Note: It's good to understand a bit of astronomy and astrophysics before watching it. Otherwise you'll be asking how come that guy came back in a shorter time but the other guy came back long ago.

Good to Great (5)...Understand what you can be best at

It is so to called Hedgehog Concept whereby the hedgehog knows one thing only as compared with the fox (with lots of plan and cunning). It is a simple and clear understanding about what you can be the best in the world at, what drives your economic engine, and what you are deeply passionate about. All these three elements are needed for a good-to-great company. Miss one, you only attain a successful company. To ensure the company is aligned within these three elements, a group of council might help to see it's course. They debate, analyze and execute decision for the sake of company progress. The council is an informal body though and they exist as a device to gain understanding about important issues facing the organization.

Too much of a thing

Influenza pandemic is here. So the Mexicans stay at home. What else can they do at home? TV, video, games and internet. They got so much time for surfing until they are sick of it. Imagine whole day chatting, Facebook, Twittering etc. It's like living in the cyberspace. Well, it's not too bad actually. There's online sermon, concert and election campaign. So much changes just because of a simple virus. More...

What do we learn from our parents?

Generations unfold, father to son, mother to daughter. Where one leaves off, the other follows, destined to repeat each other's mistakes, each other's triumphs. For how do we see the world, if not through their lens? The same fears, same desires - do we see them as an example to follow? Or as a warning of what to avoid? Choosing to live as they have, simply because it's what we know, or driven to create our own identity? And what happens if we find them to be a disappointment? Can we replace them? Our mothers, our fathers? Or will destiny find a way to drive us back, back to the familiar comforts of home? Excerpt from Heroes' Shades of Gray . Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. (Prov 1:8) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
