Of team building and treasure hunt......

Went for department team building event on last week. The event kicked off with treasure hunt around PJ area. There were 12 groups. I was in Group 10. As the teams got their first question to attempt, each of them headed off. My team still in the factory compound strategizing. The plan worked though as we able to overtook some of the teams. The clues lead us to Aman Suria and then Damansara Perdana. Along the way, we managed to solve most of the questions. As time ticking fast, we decided to speed up and target to leave for Port Dickson by 10.30am. The last point of the treasure hunt was at Taman Tun D.I. Managed to get there by 10.30am. Then we sped off to Port Dickson. We supposed to reach the end point by 12 noon. Otherwise there would penalty imposed. Little did we know, the actual time of arrival was before 1pm. Our team building venue was in Eagle Ranch Resort, Port Dickson. My team arrived at 12.05pm. We thought we were some what behind the pack as we didn't see other teams

Superman Returns

I watched "Superman Returns" on last weekend. Paid the price of one ticket for two - I had birthday voucher from the cinema. I did not have any expectation on this movie. I was amazed by the CGI and visual effect though. Hollywood has improved a lot. One thing to notice, Superman was sent to earth by his father. The father did say he is his one and only son. Sounds like bible story. Comparable to Jesus? I guess not. Both have power. Both have mercy. Both fight the evil. But Superman has a son!! Illegitimate son. He's a sinner too (at the end). I still like X-men. Lots of characters. This makes the movie fun to watch.

Asia Lantern Carnival

Last Saturday, the guys with some students went to Bukit Jalil. There was a latern exhibition - Asia Lantern Carnival 2006. Lots of laterns were on display. However, their comment was: ordinary, nothing special, unattractive. The only attraction was the dragon, which was assembled from saucers, plates and spoons. SY and I plan to go there this weekend. But their comments make us think twice.

The visitors from 2 continents.....

We have two visitors come to Malaysia and stay in house 61. They are Nav guys. Todd is from US and Dave is from UK. They will be here for 6 weeks. Their primary purpose is to help out in student ministry work. Yesterday we had home cooked dinner in SY house. Since they are from the west, most of the dishes are eye opener for them. They hardly have Chinese food in their own country. We had a great time though. Dave has his online blog to update his life ( link ). It's interesting to see how will the young chap adapt to hot and humid environment. Speaking about weather, these few days we have hazy days. Somewhere out there are having open burning.

Of soccer and headbutting.....

It has been a week after Italy won the FIFA World Cup. However, news still hot on Zizou's head butting incident. I was watching it live when he did it. Later then he revealed the reason of his act. He was provoked. It was a real life danger men face - when anger becomes sin. Who was wrong in this case? Well, Zidane should have better control his anger. But hey, human will get angry. Even Jesus had anger. Need anger management? So we can't blame him entirely. Then the blame goes to Materazzi? Why would he provoked Zidane? Well, it was known that provocation instill emotional outrage. A psychology tactic to draw opponent's focus so that he/she will make mistake. This was part of the soccer training. The players were trained to be harsh (?). Why such training is needed? The ultimate goal is to win of course. So was it Materazzi's fault? Partly yes. What can we learn from this incident? Control your anger. Don't let it becomes sin as it is very costly. Guard your tongu

Dangers Men Face #15: Danger of Freezing

We have thus far covered two dangers men face – the danger of loss and the danger of sin. The third danger is the danger of freezing. As men grow older, they tend to refuse from changing. In other words, men are freezing in their own thinking. Freezing in Thinking Patterns and habits are developed in early stage of men’s life. As they advance to later years, what have become habitual will remain. Little effort will be made in order to change these patterns or habits. Men are freezing in their thinking pattern. They are prone to refuse new idea. They are not open-minded and teachable. Firstly, we need to analyze and identify if one self will get angry at the new ideas or change (especially from the younger one). This is the symptom of freezing. Not only that, new idea will be viewed negatively. It is crucial to open up one’s mind and learn to adapt the change. Living in this current k-economy and globalization world, it will be foolish if we do not adapt with the ongoing changes. For ex

Of crowd and live telecast......

Since it's World Cup month, I thought I should watch some live telecast matches. Didn't watch any of the preliminary round. Was planning for the 2nd round. Final 8 we had Germany vs Argentina. Went to Restaurant Murni in SS2. Luckily came early, or else would struggle to find seat. As the hour getting late, the whole area was crowded. Everybody was looking at the big screen. It was a boring match though. But Germany won. Went to Sinchew for the 2nd live telecast match. The match was between England vs Portugal. Everybody was hoping England to win. Thanks to Rooney and he was sent out. The atmosphere was better as compared to mamak stall. They have freebies and lucky draw too. My housemate got the prize. I was in the middle back of this picture.
