The weekend that was unexpected....

Last weekend was quite an eventful weekend. Had planned to go to KL Convention Center for Popular Book Feast. It was crowded. Lots of Parents taking their children to visit the book fair since it was school holiday. Eventhough it was packed, we (SY and I) spent nearly 4 hours but end up bought no book. My housemates did buy some.

The next day we received a message stated that SH's father has passed away. It was a surprise. We had a last minute plan - drove down to Batu Pahat to pay a visit. Batu Pahat is quite a big town (to my surprise). It has one shopping mall and 2 or 3 "The Store" outlets. We arrived around 3pm and had a little chit-chat with the family. We left an hour and half later. After about 2 hours drive, we stucked in the famous jam along the KL-Seremban highway. It took us 1 hour to get thru it. Finally we arrived home at 9pm. We had a good journey but it was a bummer to encounter traffic jam along the highway.

Huh, u went emptyhanded from a book feast?

Lived in BP for 5 years. It was a nice and peaceful little town. Perhaps much changed now.

Kaoshiung

I haven't finished recounting my journey in Sweden and Japan; I returned from Taiwan just two weeks ago. Here's a brief account of my recent visit there (although I still have unfinished tale from last year trip to Taiwan). My first stop was Kaoshiung. Spent a day and a half in the town, then I travelled to Tainan for a weekend symposium. I ended my journey in Taipei for another short hike. The weather in Kaohsiung was quite hot, comparatively. It's not my favorite weather for traveling. Perhaps I arrived there too early; had I come a few days later, the temperature would have been cooler. Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain)

 If Yangmingshan is too far or too adventurous for you, try Xiang Shan (literally means Elephant Mountain) which is right in the city. The place is accessible by MRT. Just get out from Xiangshan MRT station, walk towards the park and you will be at the entrance in no time. Follow the signpost along the way. Be prepared for a series of steep stairway. Hsinhua Forest Station, Tainan

Spent two nights at Hsinhua Forest Station after visiting Kaoshiung, in conjunction with the academic symposium. With an abundance of forest trees and greenery, this site is perfect for hiking and relaxation. Went on a short hike in the morning. Some sections of the forest need better upkeep though.
