What is not well?

Have you examined if your church or cell group is not doing well? Some of the community cell group members came together to listen to M. Shamy on how to discern our life influence towards the lost.

The first question: What is not well?
Most agreed that everyone has his/her busyness, which do not bring our life in fullness. Also they agreed that our life has been fragmentized. In other word, we have compartmentalized our life in spiritual and non-spiritual event. No integration of Jesus in our daily routine.

What happens from here? We tend to live in guilt for not having an appropriate presentation of life.

How it should be then?
We need to be witness to the nation. It means to offer our personal experience of God at work in our life. It involves sharing what we have seen and heard of Christ.

BUT, in reality, we are poor in witness. Because lack of personal experience with God. Even our own engagement with the Scriptures is dry and seems irrelevant. If that’s the case, why would we ask anyone to join us in this kingdom?

Also we lack a non-religious language to express our faith experiences, to share insights from Bible reading and inner life joys and sorrows.

Having known these causes, do we have the remedy?

Mike suggested that each day we should expectantly, looking for Christ in the affairs of life and in the people we meet. We should commit our day and life to Him to reveal these.

Secondly, we ought to set regular times of silence, prayer and reflection on our life in Christ. As Matthew 11:28-30 reminds. Some guidances in reading the Scriptures formatively in the next writing.

Each of the members need to develop in the art of authentically, relevantly, and boldly conversing about God’s work in our lives i.e. our prayers, His help in real situation, what we are reading in the Bible, relationship etc).

The big hurdle is establishing a missional environment in the group. What does this mean?

Just create a safe place for our friends (Mark 2:13-17). Will our friends feel free to share personal problem within the group?

Members should remain flexible then. Follow the people, not asking them to follow our group.

Each member should help other playing the part and create a learning community.

Learn from the example, as some may say. That’s the power of example.

.........Have a great time with people then.

This wedding has some similarity with ours but, by comparison in every detail, each is still distinctly unique.

Day 2: A visit to some of The Tokyo Toilet project

On the second day of my trip, I decided to visit some of the public toilets under The Tokyo Toilet project. The idea was inspired by the film  Perfect Days . Since the public toilets under this project are scattered around western side of Tokyo, I visited a few in Shibuya area, which are quite close to each other. One notable location is Yoyogi Park.  One of the highlights of these designer toilets is the transparent toilet. Its transparent glass walls will turn opaque when the door is locked. This feature is based on the electrochromic effect. However, this feature is unavailable during late autumn and winter, which coincided my visit. The key takeaway from this visit: an eye opening experience about toilet culture and social inclusivity. Trip 01-06: Day 8-9 (The end)

Day 8-9 (13-14 May) We proceed to Thailand in the morning. The immigration process was the easiest. We crossed the river by boat and reached Chiang Khong (the border town of Thailand). Then a mini van to Chiang Mai. Arrived in Chiang Mai about 4pm. Looked for a cheap room and then had an excursion around the town. The next day we will depart and back to M'sia. It has been a pleasant trip for the whole week. Laos is a beautiful and peaceful country with abundant of unspoiled forest and mountains. Now we have to get back to our real life. End of the trip.
